Interview Tips for Radio Hosts
Great interviews can be the highlight of your show, but they require skill and preparation to execute well.
Research Your Guest
Learn about your guest's background, recent work, and previous interviews. This shows respect and enables deeper conversations.
Prepare Questions, Not Scripts
Have questions ready, but be willing to deviate based on your guest's responses. The best moments often come from unexpected tangents.
Listen Actively
Don't just wait for your turn to speak. Really listen to your guest and ask follow-up questions that show engagement.
Create Comfort
Start with easier questions to help your guest relax. Save challenging topics for later in the interview.
Manage Time
Know how long you have and pace your questions accordingly. It's better to have a focused discussion than to rush through topics.
End Strong
Give your guest an opportunity to share where listeners can find them. Thank them genuinely for their time.
